Pushing the Boundaries of "Awesome Weave" aka as Plain Weave
This is the perfect 2nd workshop at Jane Stafford Textiles and it is not a beginners workshop. You must know how to warp a loom and have woven a few projects.
Do you hear yourself saying "oh, it's just plain weave....I wish I had more harnesses so I could do more exciting things".......well banish those thoughts right now.
Plain Weave is such an unfortunate name for the structure that is the base of 75% of all textiles woven on the planet. I personally think we should rename plain weave "Awesome Weave". We could also call this workshop 'learning to take control of your weaving technique', or 'an exploration of the reed'. This retreat offers you the opportunity to spend 5 days exploring denting, cramming and denting, warp faced fabric, weft faced fabric, balanced plain weave with supplementary warp threads and plain weave threaded into blocks. Throw in some really cool supplementary weft techniques and you have an incredibly creative look at 'Awesome Weave'. What can be done with 4 harnesses, some good sound technique, a little thread and 2 blocks of plain weave will blow your mind.
