Wicker with Nature's Bounty, Joan Carrigan,

Explore the exciting design possibilities of the wicker basketry technique. In the process of weaving this basket, participants will learn control of shaping as well as a variety of weaving patterns, using round and flat material. Discussion will cover harvesting and selection of natural materials on hand along with choice in dyed reed. The rich variety of materials makes for a fun and creative experience.

Joan Carrigan
Joan has been teaching basketry for 17 years. Her passion for the medium has lead her to explore many of the different techniques and materials used in traditional basketry yet she also enjoys the sculptural and creative potentials that the medium offers. She exhibits her work and teaches internationally and is the recipient of two Handweavers Guild of America Awards. She loves to share her passion for basketry and puts emphasis on having fun and enjoying the experience .... thus she tends to have a lot of repeat students!
